Celebrating Milestones: A Tale of Dedication and Growth at OutsideClinic
In a professional landscape marked by frequent job changes, Emily Mather stands as a beacon of dedication and longevity. Having been with OutsideClinic since 2009, Emily offers an invaluable perspective on the company's evolution and the countless opportunities it provides for both personal and professional growth.
Emily's Journey at OutsideClinic
Emily began her career as a Scheduling Assistant, a role she held for six years. In 2015, she stepped away to explore other opportunities, which allowed her to gain valuable experience in different industries. During that time, she completed her Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner qualification. Eventually, she found herself missing the sense of job security, stability, and appreciation that OutsideClinic offered. Thankfully, Emily's newly acquired skill set made her an ideal candidate for the role of Audiology Support Manager, which she returned to assume in 2018. Since then, she has described the decision as the best career move she's ever made.
What initially attracted Emily to OutsideClinic was her background in nursing and a desire to serve in a healthcare support role that was not on the front lines. Over the years, Emily has seen her initial perceptions confirmed and deepened, especially valuing the company’s culture of appreciation and stability.
Milestones, Challenges, and Rewards
Emily has been a key witness and participant in significant company milestones, such as the introduction of Audiology services in 2009 and reorganisation of the Audiology department in 2018. She was also there during the transition of ownership to Optimism Health Group in 2020. While initially concerned about possible changes to the company’s values, Emily is pleased to report that the core principles have remained steadfast.
The most rewarding aspect of her role, according to Emily, is the feeling of being valued and appreciated by both her superiors and her team. She appreciates the voice she's been given in the organisation and enjoys the positive feedback from her team members. Additionally, Emily has been fully supported in her professional growth, having completed an NVQ Level 3 in Customer Services and smoothly transitioning into her current managerial role with the guidance of superior colleagues within the business.
A Legacy of Compassion and Growth
Throughout personal challenges, including health concerns for her family and herself, OutsideClinic has offered unwavering support, solidifying its status as an empathetic and understanding employer. When asked about her career growth, Emily champions OutsideClinic’s practice of valuing its own colleagues. She advises new employees to look forward to the exciting changes and growth ahead, encouraging them to get to know their colleagues across departments.
Perhaps the most touching memory Emily shared is the time she became the 'face' of OutsideClinic, her photograph gracing customer mailers sent out across regions. It was a rewarding professional milestone, but what made it profoundly memorable was a personal touch. During a visit to her grandmother's home in the Scottish Highlands, Emily was moved to find her mailer, complete with her featured photograph, proudly displayed on her Nan's fridge.
When asked to summarise her experience at OutsideClinic, Emily simply said, "A great workplace with great colleagues, opportunities, and support, to which I am very grateful."
Emily Mather's story is not just an account of personal success, but also a testament to the nurturing and supportive environment that OutsideClinic fosters for its colleagues. Now celebrating five years as Audiology Support Manager, we celebrate Emily's dedication and progression within the company and which her many more years to help everyone make a difference.
