Working during Ramadan - how we support our team
We know that Ramadan is a significant time for many of our team members. It's a month of reflection, gratitude and community - where Muslims around the world observe daily fasting from sunrise to sunset.
Balancing fasting with work, especially for those in roles that involve travel and patients visits, can be challenging - but we're committed to ensuring our teams feel supporting, values and included throughout the month.
Jhanara shares what Ramadan means to her:
"For me, Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It’s a time to concentrate on prayer and worship. It’s also the one time in the year when my family eats together every day at the same time, so I really look forward to it."

While Waseem reflects on the meaning of Ramadam:
"Ramadan is about gratitude. It’s a way of showing thanks for what we have, while remembering and supporting those who are less fortunate."
Beyond personal reflection, Ramadan is also about coming together - whether that's with family, friends or a supportive workplace.

How we're supporting our teams
We recognise that fasting while working - especially in a domiciliary role - can bring challenges. That's why we're committed to providing practical support and fostering a workplace where everyone feels comfortable.
Flexible scheduling - where possible, our fantastic scheduling team will work with teams to minimise travel time and structure the day in a way that helps.
Waseem shares his experience: "If I'm struggling, I know I can let me manager know, and the scheduling team will try to arrange local days to reduce travel time. That really helps when energy levels dip."
Wellbeing and energy management - we'll be sharing useful tips on staying energised and managing work during Ramadan - like the best foods to eat at Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and how to balance rest with a busy work day.
Jhanara shares her advice: "minimise physical exertion - park as close to the location as possible."
Awareness and inclusivity - a simple 'how's your fast going?' can mean a lot. We encourage open conversations and want everyone to feel comfortable if they need extra support. We're encouraging all teams to be mindful of those fasting and sharing simple ways to show support.
Jhanara says: "It's really nice when people acknowledge Ramadan and check in - it makes you feel valued."

Looking ahead to Eid
At the end of Ramadan comes Eid al-Fitr - a time of celebration, reflection and coming together. It's a moment to enjoy time with family, great food and giving back to the community.
At OutsideClinic, we believe in recognising the moments that matter to our people. Whether it's supporting our teams through Ramadan, celebrating Eid or creating an inclusive workplace every day.
To everyone observing, we wish you a peaceful and fulfilling Ramadan.
