Life as an Optometrist at OutsideClinic
Working as an optometrist at OutsideClinic is completely different from what you’ll find in high street practice. You’ll visit patients in their own homes, offering expert eye care to those who may not be able to access it otherwise. Most of our patients are over 85 - so your role goes far beyond testing sight. You’re helping people stay independent, safe and connected.
Delivering care that's truly personal
At OutsideClinic, you wear multiple hats. You’re the optometrist, dispenser and main point of contact - which means your patients get continuity and care that feels personal from start to finish. Because you have more time with each patient (6 to 7 a day), you can build relationships and deliver gold-standard clinical care without feeling rushed.

Support when you need it
Although you're working independently, you’re never alone. Our Professional Services Team - made up of experienced optometrists - is just a message or phone call away. Whether you need a second opinion, clinical advice or referral support, they’ve got your back.

The tech that travels with you
We equip you with everything you need to deliver excellent care on the move - and it all weighs under 10kg. Your kit includes:
- Digital fundus camera
- Mobile slit lamp
- I-care tonometer
- Tablet-based records system, EYEris (built by optometrists, for optometrists)
- Portable retinoscope, ophthalmoscope, Heine BIO and more
